Need a structural eye on a sagging porch beam
Crown Heights tenant association — front porch is visibly sagging mid-span. Need someone with structural training to look and tell us if it's urgent.
We are the tenant association in a 6-unit walk-up. The front porch is visibly sagging mid-span and the landlord's response so far has been "it's fine."
What we need: someone with structural training (architect, engineer, advanced student) to come look at it and tell us, in plain language, whether this is dangerous or cosmetic. We're not asking for a stamped report — just a real opinion we can use in our case with the landlord and the city.
Free or trade. We've got modest fundraising and can cover a small honorarium; alternately we have organizing experience to trade.
